Andrea van Pol spreekt diskjockey en party-organisator Joost van Bellen over zijn roman Nachtdier. Beer van Munster heeft zich van jongs af aan een buitenstaander gevoeld. Om te ontsnappen aan zijn ontwrichte gezin ontpopt hij zich tot nachtdier. In het Amsterdamse nachtleven van de jaren tachtig zoekt hij naar liefde en bestaansrecht. Hij verkoopt zijn ziel aan de duivel en wordt in al zijn preutsheid eigenaar van een sekstheater. Na een mentale instorting schrijft Beer in Brazilië zijn dj-memoires. Dan gooit de pandemie roet in het eten. Terwijl de reden van zijn bestaan steeds verder afbrokkelt, wordt hij gedwongen tot introspectie.
