Heu-Heu, or the Monster Chapter 2 - The Picture in the Cave

In which a savage tempest drives the travellers to seek shelter in a vast, ancient cave where the faithful Hottentot Hans reveals secret tunnels and petrified relics of forgotten peoples, kindling the imagination with tales of prehistoric giants and Bushmen artistry. As the moonlight strikes a cavern wall, a terrifying and magnificent painting of a monstrous, half-ape demon is unveiled, evoking awe and unease in equal measure.
