Genesis 17:7-8 We need to understand the historical events in Israel during the first century because those events affected the modern history of Israel. When Israel was founded in May 1948, it was built by secular Jews. The religious Jews were not interested in helping to establish a Jewish state because they believed it could only be done by the Messiah. This teaching explains the major people, issues and events which shape the modern nation of Israel.
