He also takes a look at conflict between the ram and the goat, described in Daniel 8. This chapter describes a conflict between the Medo Persian empire (the ram) and the Greek empire (the goat), led by Alexander the Great. The driving force of Hellenism was to unify all nations under ONE culture and government, the Greek culture. Under Antiochus Epiphanes IV (Alexander the Great’s successor), Jews were killed, the Holy Temple was defiled, and studying the Torah was outlawed.
