In this session, we will look at the life and ministry of Abraham as it relates to the role and function of the Melchizedek Priesthood. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and you shall be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed. Gen 12:1-3 Abraham followed after the LORD, believing His promises. We are told in Genesis: And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:6 Abraham was faithful in following after the God of Israel. Because of His obedience and faithfulness, he is going to receive blessing, reward and inheritance from the God of Israel. Abraham was a faithful servant and son in the task that was assigned to him. Abraham functioned in the role of Melchizedek Priest when he rescued Lot after he was taken captive by Tidal, King of nations (Genesis 14:1, 11-12). Because he was faithful to the task given to Him, Abraham was rewarded with a promised son and a promised land.
