HHMI - Paul's Life and Letters ~ Pt 14 ~ Counting all things as loss….that I might “know” Him!

Once we have received Yeshua as our Messiah, we are to walk as He walked. As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him. Colossians 2:6 Paul reveals his heart and his passion to us in Philippians 3:8-10: “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Messiah Yeshua my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Messiah, And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the Torah, but that which is through the faith of Messiah, the righteousness which is of God by faith. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” Paul is already saved by grace and has Yeshua’s imputed righteousness on him. Why is Paul praying that he might “know” him? He is praying that he would follow after Messiah in complete and total dedication and identification in him, following in the footsteps of Yeshua. This means that he would walk in the sufferings of Yeshua. This means that we are to make Yeshua Lord in every area of our life, holding nothing back. When we are conformed to his death and we go through our own process of “death” to self, pride and our carnal flesh, and we become identified in His sufferings, then we can begin to know and walk in the power of His resurrection!
