HHMI - Romans ~ Pt 5 ~ The Carnal Mind Does NOT Follow the Torah!

from Hebraic Heritage Radio Podcasts · host Eddie Chumney

In traditional Christianity, it is taught that you either have faith and follow Yeshua (and His Holy Spirit) OR you follow the Torah. This is framing the matter incorrectly. It is taught that following the Torah is bondage. In fact, we are saved by grace through faith and then AFTER we are saved by grace through faith we are to follow the Torah of Yeshua by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Paul asks this very question, that after coming to faith in Messiah, do we no longer follow the Torah? Do we then make void the Torah through faith? Romans 3:31 He then answers his own question, in the rest of the verse: God forbid: yea, we establish the Torah. Romans 3:31 In 1 John 3:4, we have a bible definition of sin: Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Torah: for sin is the transgression of the Torah. 1 John 3:4 When we transgress the Torah, we are being carnal and we are sold unto sin. The problem is not with the Torah. The problem is with me, with my sin nature and with my flesh. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the Torah of God, neither indeed can be.
