In this session, we will look at why the book of Luke begins with telling us about the birth of John the Baptist. What is the Hebraic meaning behind this? We will also look at the ministry and message of John the Baptist and Yeshua: We will then build for you an outline that the central theme of the New Testament is the role of the Messiah to gather the exiles of Israel and unite the 12 tribes of Israel. We will learn a detailed explanation for how that is going to happen. Knowing when Zacharias was serving in the Temple will help us understand when John the Baptist was born. Knowing when John the Baptist was born is significant in helping us understand the redemption of the house Israel. This will also help us understand why the book of Luke begins by telling us about the birth of John the Baptist. Ever since the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, the standing Amidah prayer is prayed three times per day by Orthodox Jews. Here is an excerpt of that prayer: Sound the great shofar for our freedom; raise a banner to gather our exiles, and bring us together from the four corners of the earth into our land. Blessed are You L-rd, who gathers the dispersed of His people Israel.
