HHMI ~ Two Houses and NT ~ Pt 24 ~ The Wild and Natural Branches of the Olive Tree

from Hebraic Heritage Radio Podcasts · host Eddie Chumney

The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken. For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal. Jer. 11:16-17 How will this olive tree, composed of both the house of Judah (Southern kingdom) and the house of Israel (Northern kingdom) going to be mended and restored? Paul addresses this in Romans 9-11, but particularly in Romans 11. In this chapter, Paul describes two different kinds of branches: wild branches and natural branches. BOTH of these branches will be grafted back into the tree, which represents Israel. The wild branch is the non-Jewish part of the olive tree, while the natural branch is the Jewish part of the olive tree. With the birth of biblical Zion comes the gathering and uniting of all 12 tribes of Israel.
