HHMI ~ Two Houses and NT ~ Pt 26 ~ Paul’s Commission to Bring the Gospel to the Exiles of Israel
from Hebraic Heritage Radio Podcasts · host Eddie Chumney
And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. Acts 13:44, 46-47 And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. Isaiah 49:6 When Paul was speaking to the whole city and speaking forth the gospel, he quotes from Isaiah 49:6, his “commissioning verse” that is the “sending” of him to preach the good news to proclaim that Yeshua is the Messiah. What is that good news? That Yeshua our Messiah, died on the tree for purpose of gathering and uniting the 12 tribes of Israel. He died not just for one, but for TWO nations, “this nation”, the Southern kingdom (Judah/the Jews) and “another nation”, the Northern kingdom (Ephraim) (John 11:49-52). Paul is being called to proclaim Yeshua as Messiah specifically to the Northern Kingdom, to Ephraim.
