In this session, Eddie lays a foundation to understand what Paul is explaining in Romans 9, 10, 11 and in 1 Peter. We will see that what is written there is being communicated to the exiles of Israel. Paul is specifically writing to the “strangers scattered” in Rome. This is code for the non Jews of the Northern kingdom: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, even us, whom he has called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? As he said also in Hosea, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. Romans 9: 24-26 Paul is quoting here from Hosea. The book of Hosea was specifically written to the Northern kingdom. This is a prophecy about them that the Lord would scatter them to the nations, (Hosea 1:4, Jezreel) that He would show them “no mercy” (Hosea 1:6, Lo Ruhamah) and that they would become “not His people” (Hosea 1:8, Lo Ami). But it is also prophesied that they would become the “sons of the living God (Hosea 1:10). So Paul makes a direct connection to Hosea. He is writing to the strangers, the non-Jews, the Northern kingdom, who was scattered and came to live in Rome!
