Hidilyn Diaz on how she paved the road to the 2020 Olympics with a golden heart and trust in God

An Olympic gold for a person with a golden heart. Before Hidilyn Diaz became the very first Filipino Olympian to bring home the gold medal, she started weightlifting out of curiosity and pursued the sport so she can help her family put food on the table. She would lift makeshift cans filled with cement and mags of jeepney tires, and her first equipment was a donated set of barbells. Throughout the years, Hidilyn failed a lot. She would rank last in international competitions and still smile about it, not knowing that in the future, it would become a teaching moment for kids who are struggling to pursue their dreams.“Lahat tayo nagsisimula sa wala.
