How's your anxiety level? Mine's kind of like up there. You know what I mean? Mine is...
Remember the Mel Brooks movie, High Anxiety? Yeah. Yeah. It's right about there.
Is this something to be grateful for? Let's check it out. So, tomorrow is my second injection of ozimpic. And I'm stressed about that.
I'm not really, you know, I'm on my first one and it's working out rather well. Oh, hi, everyone. I'm Michael Gross. This is The Daily Grateful.
And I was asked if the challenges of anxiety are something to be grateful for. And that is a good question. As a matter of fact, it's a real good question. As a matter of fact, I'm looking stuff up on the internet about it.
I think it is. And here's why. Let me just tell you why I am grateful for anxiety. It's made me acutely aware of my own strength because when my anxiety level is high, I am like, oh, but I'm constantly aware of what's going on through my entire body and my entire surroundings.
So that's good. And you know, I've learned some self-care things through this, especially through anxious periods. Now, there are drugs you can take for anxiety. They're out there.
I try to avoid them. I have a script for one that I will take if things get outrageously bad, but that's the only time I will take it. I'm not going to tell you what it is, but it's out there. And I'm just not one who likes to take drugs.
I tell you what, you give me a time. This is what a voice I am. You give me a time on all PM and I'm done for the day, the night, you know, the next day, I can't, I cannot, I can't do drugs. I also can't drink for that reason.
I used to drink when I was younger, not anymore, no more drinking for me, except for when my favorite ex-wife, who is ex-wife number two of three. And I go to this one restaurant that we haven't been to, we just figured out we haven't been there in two years. It has really good frozen margaritas. So when we go, I will have, she won't drink.
I will have one frozen margarita, which is delicious. And then she drives. And I am like toast. I am like freaking toast from one frozen margarita.
And if you get there at Happy Hour, they give you two. I know, don't, don't. But anyway, and I, one of the things that I've learned how to do is come up with coping mechanisms, dealing with anxiety. You have to look for coping mechanisms.
And I look for the helpers. And for me, the helpers are my grandkids. Yeah, they're helpers, you know, because just being around them is cool and fun. One of them is hysterically funny.
One is hysterically intelligent. And the other one is so autistic that she's just adorable. And yet the artistic one who is nonverbal for most of the time can get me to do anything she wants. You know, she's seven and she has total control.
She, yeah, there's nothing I won't do for. So she's very happy about that. And that all reduces my anxiety. When I'm overcoming these anxious moments, I seem to build up this heightened sense of resilience.
And I'm grateful for that. That is good. I like that. I'm really grateful for just the mental health well being fostered by just being anxious.
When you're anxious, you start figuring out how to get things done. And I'm one of those figure out a way to get things done, kind of guys. And I, no matter what happens, if there's one thing I've always done is figure out a way to get things done. And when I'm running into a very anxious period of time, and maybe this is an older age thing, maybe I'm more anxious because I'm older, I don't know.
But I can figure out how to get the anxiety gone by focusing on other things. That's good. I go through anxiety and growth and resilience. All of that is the resilience is possible.
I can do it. All you can do it. Who's the guy Tony, the guy that has that, that real muscular guy with the long hair, you can do it. That guy, that's what I think of when I get really anxious.
And I'm going to try and get out of the anxiety by using all of my skills, all of my ways of diverting my attention to something else, all of my ways for reconnecting. I think of him and he goes, you can do it. He's exercising on that, whatever that sled thing that he sells. So stay tuned for tomorrow.
When the topic is going to be gratitude in money. Who doesn't like to talk about money? That's what we will cover tomorrow. I have some interesting ideas.
Hope you're having a terrific day. For The Daily Grateful, I'm Michael Crust.
