So high functioning autism is a term that was used to describe what we now know as a level of support needs within the autism community. High functioning autism or sometimes referred to as Aspergers Syndrome is characterised by the level of support an autistic person needs. What Are Some Signs Of High Functioning Autism? For example, an autist person who is non verbal will have a higher level of support needs compared to that of an autistic person who has a very strong vocabulary and good executive function. The higher level of support needs used to be classified as low functioning autism and the lower level of support needs used to be called high-functioning autism / Asperger's syndrome. There is no high functioning autism test per-say, but there-is an AQ test that is use for autism. Autism treatment is the same for all autism spectrum conditions it is an on going autism support that will have individual needs. What Are The 3 Main Symptoms Of Autism?
