Extreme temps cut July Fourth events short

from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand

Some of the big events in the city this week are being cut short because of the extreme heat. The route for Friday's Salute to Independence Parade is being shortened. Instead of a two-and-a-half mile route, it'll be just one mile from Independence Hall to City Hall. Parade producer Todd Marcocci (mar-KOCH-ee) tells NBC10 everyone seems to be happy about the decision: "That's the thing about the parade business. Mother Nature rules everything. So, once I sent the email out to all of the participants last night, they were elated!" And the FIFA Fan Fest at Lemon Hill is adjusting its hours. It'll open four hours late today, Thursday and Friday. Today, it'll be open 4 to midnight. On Thursday 6pm-10pm and Friday 5pm-9pm.
