Higher Education & Switched at Birth

The Washington Post opinion piece argues that higher education is losing public trust because many academic institutions have become overly insulated and ideologically homogeneous. McArdle uses a recent controversy involving anthropology scholars and a university-commissioned report as evidence that academia often responds defensively to criticism, which she believes further undermines confidence in colleges and universities.  Two North Dakota men learned through DNA testing that they had been raised by the wrong families after allegedly being switched at birth in 1988. They and their parents are now suing Unity Medical Center, claiming the mistake cost them decades of relationships and experiences.
