Hippies and Jesus with Steven Uggen

from CitySites Podcast Network · host CitySites Podcast Network

When I became a Christian back in the early 1970’s there was a movement known as the Jesus People Revival, and these were primarily people coming out from the hippie movement of that era. Churches were not ready for the long hair and barefoot new converts coming to Christ. In time, churches either adapted to these new hippie believers or new churches sprang up to accommodate them. Today, we do better at accepting people into our churches, but I’m not sure we are challenging them to be the kind of followers Jesus is looking for in order to fulfill the Great Commission. In this episode, Larry talks with Steven Uggen, a man whose ministry is trying to get the church to realize that it may be falling short in making disciples.Challenging the Culture with Truth with Larry Kutzler and Esteemed Guests. Visit CitySites Urban MediaCheck out Larry’s books!
