His Name Is: Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Our Healer)

from Island Community Church (Memphis) · host Barrett Bowden

Do you ever find yourself driving down the road and listening (or singing aloud) to worship music? I do. (If you ever see me while I'm singing in the car, you have my permission to look the other way.) One of my favorite songs of recent years is "Healer" by Hillsong. Perhaps you recognize the lyrics of the chorus: " I believe You're my healer / I believe You are all I need / I believe You're my portion / I believe You're more than enough for me / Jesus You're all I need." I learned recently that the Australian writer who wrote these lyrics was battling a strong, enslaving addiction in his own life. Desperate for healing, he wrote the song to reflect the cry of his soul. It's no wonder the truths in this chorus resonate with us; they speak honestly of the depth of our brokenness and our need to experience the power of God's healing grace. The key for us is faith, to believe He can do what He has promised.Today, as we continue with our series "His Name Is...," we turn our attention to God's name "Jehovah Rapha," The Lord Our Healer. I hope you will be encouraged today to realize more of the heart and intent of God as He has revealed Himself to us. Pray that God would allow you to know Him more today and respond to Him in greater worship, trust, and surrender. This is the purpose of your life. I'm so glad you're here!
