His Name Shall Be Called — Everlasting Father
from LifeWell Messages
How can a newborn be called Everlasting Father ? This Advent message answers in two parts: the child grows up, and he existed long before Bethlehem because he is eternal—God, with no beginning and no end. After tracing the geography and history behind Isaiah 9—Zebulun, Naphtali, and Galilee of the Gentiles, conquered and resettled—the teaching shows that Jesus was never an accident but always God's plan. In John 8:58 Jesus claims the divine name, "Before Abraham was born, I am." As a father, he believes in his children, provides identity, and plans their future ( John 14 ), shown in his grief over Jerusalem (Luke 13) and his tears at Lazarus' tomb (John 11). The closing appeal asks a direct question: with all the gifts of Christmas, have you yet placed your life in the hands of the Everlasting Father?
