His Name Shall Be Called — Prince of Peace

A university study once listed eight factors for peace of mind, yet the world's prescriptions still leave people anxious. This Advent message argues that lasting peace is found only in Jesus, the Prince of Peace promised in Isaiah 9. His first and central work is reconciling us to God. Because all have sinned ( Romans 3:23 ) and were enemies of God ( Romans 5:10 ), Jesus made peace where there was hostility. He also brings everlasting promises, completeness, and a standard for living. But biblical peace is not the absence of trouble or a prosperity guarantee—Jesus said he came to bring a sword (Matthew 10:34) and warned that following him spurs holiness, not comfort. The peace he gives is steadiness in the middle of the storm, confidence that God remains in control even when everything is shaking.
