His Name Shall Be Called — Proclaim His Name

December makes it culturally comfortable to talk about Jesus, but the question this message raises is what proclaiming his name looks like the rest of the year. Like Thomas, people struggle to believe what they have not seen—and even eyewitnesses of Jesus rejected him. Drawing on 1 John 1:3 , the teaching argues that the unchurched are less interested in whether Christianity is true than whether it works, and whether it has visibly worked in you. Two steps follow: be able to answer why you became a Christian and who you were before, and let Jesus continually change you so the fruit of the Spirit ( Galatians 5:22-23 ) becomes evident. People wanted to know how a woman lost fifty pounds, not buy her old clothes; likewise they want to see whether Jesus has changed your marriage, finances, and demeanor. Proclamation is most powerful when transformation is visible year-round.
