This historical decision will be debated and voted on just days after the Mayor's address at the Empire Club of Canada. The Gardiner Expressway has been debated for decades by past Councils and now is the time to make a decision on how we can continue to build a livable city for everyone. Biography: John Tory is the 65th Mayor of Toronto. Born and raised in Toronto, Mayor Tory has spent his career promoting and giving back to the city he loves. He has an extensive background in volunteer community service and his community work has been widely recognized. As a lawyer, talk show host, businessman, Member of Provincial Parliament and Leader of the Official Opposition at Queen's Park, and now as Mayor, he has long believed that the diversity of Toronto is our greatest strength. As Mayor, his focus is on bringing the city together as One Toronto alongside tackling transit and traffic congestion.
