History is to be Learnt, not Resented / Ep. 2

History is not just a subject to be learnt and taught in school; it is the story of us—every youth, adult, and human being. It is a treasure trove of knowledge, a guide that has captured the triumphs and tribulations of our ancestors; a thing that is also happening even now. As the largest generation of young people in history, we hold the power to shape the future. Understanding history will equip us with the wisdom to navigate the complexities of today’s world. A thing we have come to consider boring and far-fetched. The ills of colonialism, wars, and conflicts have left indelible marks on societies. Countries have inflicted wounds upon each other, but these scars are not just reminders of pain; they are lessons that teach us the cost of division and the value of unity. And it is only in the studying of history, with an open mind, that we can actually live and love, and avoid certain careless mistakes. Great minds have always advocated for peace and unity. Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence, Nelson Mandela’s forgiveness and reconciliation, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of equality are beacons of hope. They remind us that despite our differences, we share a common humanity. Calling us to embrace such gift. In the end, let us remember that history is not about dwelling on the past. It is about learning, understanding, and using that knowledge to create a world where peace and unity prevail.
