Hitman for the Police? Al Profit on Kenyel Brown

from Al Profit Podcast · host Al Profit

Detroit, the Winter of 2019- just before the Pandemic kicked in. Kenyel Brown kills 6 people in 70 days. All while he was supposed to be serving a life sentence for being an armed career criminal but was actually working as paid operative for the A.T.F.Kenyel Brown was born in the same area of Metro Detroit you may be getting familiar with the Starz BMF show- the Southwest border of Detroit, Ecorse, and RIver Rouge. The heartland of Michigan’s black auto working class. Kenyel William Brown was born on July 3, 1979 into a family with several brothers and sisters and attended River Rouge High School, where he became a successful basketball player. After high school, or maybe starting his senior year he developed a serious drug habit and/or a penchant for violence perhaps fueled by mental illness. Or not. August 1997, Brown got a year in the Wayne County jail for assault with a weapon. A few months after he gets out in 1998 he is locked back up for illegal carrying of weapons and resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty, was conditionally sentenced to 4 years' imprisonment, but in October 1999 was arrested yet again for the illegal possession of a Taser and attempting to sell it. I don’t know if “conditionally sentenced” means Federal probation or Federal informant- probably both. After this tase case he definitely began to cooperate with investigators agreeing to plead guilty in exchange for testifying against others. In September 2000, Brown was arrested for drug possession with intent to sell, but was released yet again. Now, if he was “working” why did he keep getting arrested? Well, he kept getting local police arrests, and probably Federal handlers were getting him out. But, remember he never had any sort of major drug case so why would the Feds be protecting him? What info could he have? I’ll give you a possible theory in a minute.
