A time of celebration has just ended. A time when many countries celebrate with great joy and, to do so, it is customary to dress differently: wearing costumes with a variety of colors and sparkles. Some add “masks” to their outfits, giving their costumes a touch of mystery that sometimes arouses curiosity in others. While it is true that the song I chose for this occasion does not mention masks, it is also true that it is a song closely related to the festive atmosphere and carnival due to its cheerful and harmonious rhythm. Más que Nada According to Wikipedia, the expression “Más que nada” is commonly translated as “of course,” “yes, of course!” or “it doesn't matter,” and the song celebrates the joy of Brazilian music. It is a song by Jorge Ben, recorded on his first LP, “Samba Esquema Novo” in 1965 and re-recorded by Sergio Mendez in 1966. This song has been performed by many renowned artists, including the Black Eyed Peas in 2006. It was chosen in 2013 to be included in the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame and was considered by “The Brazilian Rolling Stone” magazine as the best Brazilian song in history. I wanted to share it with you in its original language, so I took on the challenge of singing it in Portuguese, even though I don't speak the language very well. To make this song, I used a track that I had saved in my files for some time as background music and sang over it. I really hope you enjoy it. Take care, and see you next time with another song! Here are the lyrics: Ô-ariá-a-raiô Obá, obá, obá Ô-ariá-a-raiô Obá, obá, obá Mas, que nada Sai da minha frente, eu quero passar Pois o samba está animado, que eu quero é sambar This samba is a mix of maracatu It's samba de preto velho, samba de pretutu But no way A samba like this is so cool You won't want me to reach the end Ô-ariá-a-raiô Obá, obá, obá Ô-ariá-a-raiô Obá, obá, obá This samba that's a mix of maracatu It's samba de preto velho, samba de pretutu But, no way A samba like this, so cool You won't want me to reach the end Ô-ariá-a-raiô Obá, obá, obá Ô-ariá-a-raiô Obá, obá, obá
