Most times, when someone covers their face, it is either because they don’t want their real identity to be known or for reasons best known to them. There are many meanings attached to masks. They can be used to carry out both good and evil agendas. Some masks are visible, while others are not. But I want to take us to another dimension of masks. Many people wear a smiling face not because everything is fine, but because they are dying inside. The mask they choose to put on makes it look like they are perfectly okay. A mask can cover your real identity and hide your true feelings. Sometimes, even women who want to get married try to “cover” their real selves just to be accepted. That is why I sang a cover of the song Open the Eyes of My Heart because beyond the physical masks, we need our inner eyes opened to see what is truly going on within us and around us.
