Chris Petersen is the Linus Pauling Archivist at the Oregon State University Libraries. Dr. Linus Pauling was an renowned scientist and peace activist. He is the only person in history to receive two unshared Nobel Prizes (one in Chemistry in 1954 and one in Peace in 1962). Dr. Pauling was an advocate of better health through optimum nutrition, and is most noted for his recommendations of Vitamin C supplementation for health and disease prevention. Today, the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University carries on Dr. Pauling's nutrition research legacy. The state of Oregon has proclaimed every February 28th (Dr. Pauling's birthday) as Linus Pauling Day.
