Tonight we're reviewing Hold the Fort — William Bagley's 74-minute suburban horror-comedy that premiered at Fantasia 2025 and had every genre-press outlet using words like "silly fun" and "punches above its weight." Lucas and Jenny move into "Gruber Hills," a copy-and-paste housing development, and discover their HOA has a rather more literal definition of "keeping out the wrong element." When a hellmouth opens under the manicured lawns, the community has to fight off a fighting-game-style parade of monsters — each wave escalating in threat level — through the night. Cabin in the Woods meets Attack the Block meets Grabbers. Tight, unpretentious, and knows exactly what it's trying to be. Paired with it: Ardbeg Wee Beastie — an Islay Scotch aged five years, released as an entry point to the smoky peated end of the Ardbeg lineup. All three of us went the same way on this pour, which doesn't happen often on this show.
