Hole in the earth's ozone layer begins to heal

The 1987 Montreal Protocol banned the use of industrial chemicals known as CFCs that were used in refrigeration and aerosols with the aim of preventing damage to the earth’s ozone layer. Now, thirty years later, there is scientific evidence that the ban has succeeded.
