Holidays 2023- Happy Easter, Passover and Ramadan

from One More Thing Before You Go

In this Bonus Episode we're going to talk a little bit about three major religious celebrations that happen around the world. This year is unique as it is the second year in a row that Passover, Easter Sunday, and Ramadan will occur during the same weekend. I'm your host, Michael Herst, Diane is taking a little break while we celebrate the holiday….welcome to One More Thing Before You Go.Typically, this event happens three times a century or once every 33 years. These celebrations may differ in their religious significance, but they all have one thing in common – they bring people together to celebrate and find joy in their shared traditions. Let's explore the benefits and joys of these celebrations!Passover, which this year started in the evening Wednesday, Apr 5, 2023, and runs through- the evening of Thu, Apr 13, 2023, is a Jewish celebration that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. It is a time for reflection and remembrance, but also a time for celebration. Families come together for the Seder meal, where they retell the story of the Exodus and enjoy traditional foods such as matzah and charoset. Passover teaches us the value of freedom and the importance of standing up against oppression and injustice.Easter which falls on Sunday April 9, 2023, is a Christian celebration that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time for reflection, repentance, and renewal. But Easter is also a time of joy and celebration. Families come together to enjoy traditional foods like hot cross buns and Easter eggs, and children participate in Easter egg hunts, which is always a fun time. Easter reminds us to appreciate the rebirth and renewal of nature as well, bringing us closer to our communities.Ramadan which begin in the evening on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 and ends on Thursday, April 20, 2023is a Muslim celebration that is observed by fasting from dawn to dusk for an entire month. It is a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and charitable acts. Despite the physical challenges of fasting, Ramadan is also a time of joy and celebration. Families come together to break their fasts with traditional meals such as dates and sweet drinks, and the night-time Taraweeh prayers are a spiritual experience shared by Muslims worldwide.Celebrating religious holidays such as Easter, Ramadan, and Passover can bring us together as a community, create a sense of belonging, and provide us with moments of joy and reflection. They teach us about the values of love, compassion, and forgiveness, reminding us that we are all connected, and we can all celebrate our differences. As we celebrate the holiday ourselves. We wish you a happy holiday and hope that you could spend it with family and friends. and One More Thing Before You Go… Have a great day, have a great week and thanks for watching!
