Holiness And Grace

What does it truly mean to be holy? Can we ever really achieve holiness through our own efforts? Join us in this thought-provoking conversation as we dive into the concept of holiness and the call to be holy in all aspects of our lives. We'll explore the misconceptions around holiness, the role of grace in our sanctification process, and the provision of holiness in Christ. We'll discuss the common responses to the call of holiness, such as licentiousness and the belief that we must clean ourselves up before God will accept us. Discover how the victorious Christian life syndrome can lead to feelings of condemnation and the importance of understanding that holiness is more than just a matter of willpower. Learn how the thorn bush, a symbol of the cursed earth and grace, teaches us that the first step towards holiness is not to try to clean up our act, but to see and apprehend God's provision in Christ. Additionally, we'll examine the pitfalls of striving for holiness through endless works and performance, and the importance of embracing God's unconditional love and grace to live a truly holy life. We'll also consider Philip Brooks' powerful acrostic G-R-A-C-E - God's riches at Christ's expense - as we challenge ourselves to shift our focus from our own efforts to Christ's work on our behalf.
