In this message, we reflect on the significance of communion, following the model Jesus gave. Communion is more than a ritual — it’s a moment of worship, remembrance, and gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice. We’ll explore two common extremes in the church regarding communion: 1. Taking it without heart connection – When it becomes a religious formality rather than sincere worship, something Jesus strongly rebuked (Matthew 15:8-9). 2. Neglecting it altogether – Forgetting or avoiding communion, despite its biblical importance. While Scripture doesn’t specify how often to take communion, it is a practice meant to be observed with reverence and intentionality. At Lakeside, we set aside time in our First Wednesday service to receive communion together, worship, and give thanks to God.
