Holy Old Men
from Discipleship on SermonAudio Hosted by Jeremy Fodge
Healthy churches must teach specific, gendered applications of the faith, rejecting the notion of a generic Christian identity in favor of distinct masculine and feminine expressions of discipleship. Christian men are to embody virtues such as sobriety, dignity, and self-control. These traits are not achieved through human effort but are the result of being trained by God's grace. Grace actively transforms believers, enabling them to endure suffering and resist worldly passions by anchoring their identity in Christ's redemption. By viewing life's crises as opportunities for spiritual training rather than mere disasters, men can develop the steadfastness and love necessary to reflect God's glory. The message concludes with an exhortation to rely on the Spirit's power to complete the work of sanctification, ensuring that believers live as sons of the age to come.
