Holy Spirit Part 7: Patience & Self-control …

from Rock Of Refuge Ministries · host Pastor Njabulo

Holy Spirit Part 7: Patience & Self-control … “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:4 NKJV Introduction  Many people have put themselves through trouble because of lack of patience and self-control Long-suffering as said in KJNV is a synonym of patience Sometimes it feels like you are suffering but you are not really suffering In our days people want fast results Don’t Be Weary In Doing Good  Galatians 6:9 NLT Let us not be weary in well doing Doing good instead of ungodly pleasures is not the easiest thing to do in our world You will sometimes feel left out In the right time the Word of God says; “we shall receive a reward” God has a way to reward well doing but it will take time and patience Esau sold his birth rights to Jacob because of lack of patience Hunger pains made him give up what was more important Control your hunger urges and trust in God Saul lost the kingdom to David because of lack of patience He couldn’t wait for Prophet Samuel to come and make a sacrifice I Samuel 13:11-12 NKJV Lack of patience can cost you so much 🫢😮😧 Maybe you could have been debt free if you allowed the Holy Spirit to lead you other than being impatient  Say No Is The Best Option Have you find yourself in many situations due to decision, I’ve got a solution for you: Say no… not yet… not now, to the things that have a potential to make you suffer later Pray about things, allow God to lead you in your decision making God is greater than the “thing” that you’re waiting for. Choose to surrender to Him. Trust in the God who is a Promise Keeper. Don’t worship the promise — choose to worship God. Don’t idolize the Promise — choose to worship God. Don’t exalt the promise — choose to exalt God.  (Vance K. Jackson) Wait On The Lord Isaiah 40:31 NKJV The reason why we lose strength is mostly because we don’t want to wait Executing plans fast before you give yourself time to consult the Holy Spirit We have more children of God who speak in tongues and prophesy yet have a lot of debt To renew our strength will call for us to display the fruit of patience and self-control Choose to wait upon the Lord. Waiting is a skill. Waiting requires discipline. Waiting requires humility. Waiting requires submission. Choose to wait upon the Lord and He will renew your strength. When you’re patient, God will give you new strength. When you’re waiting on God, He will continually refresh you. When you trust in the Lord, He will lead and direct your path. Choose to love God beyond the “stuff” that you’re waiting on. Choose to honor God beyond the platform. Choose to surrender to God in every area of your life. You may have been hoping for a promise to come to pass. You may have been hoping for a vision to come to fruition. You may have been hoping for something in your life to manifest. Choose to shift your attention and redirect your focus —choose to trust God. (Vance K. Jackson) Closure: Run With Endurance  Hebrews 12:1-3 NLT Race is won by those who keep the focus on the finish line Endurance and discipline to finish is what will make you more successful A person running the race restrict himself on bad diet  In as much as there is so much good diet available for you to eat there is also bad diet available for you Bad diet causes us to lose the race Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith He endured the cross and insults from His own because of joy he had to save you Imagine what would have happened to us if Jesus did not have patience and self-control in the cross
