Holy Spirit Part 8: Kindness & Gentleness…

from Rock Of Refuge Ministries · host Pastor Njabulo

Holy Spirit Part 8: Kindness & Gentleness… “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV Introduction The fruits of kindness and gentleness is very important in our lives Everybody enjoy hanging around people who are kind If you don’t enjoy kind people, you must find a job Bomb Production or Generations because you are addicted to drama There are people like that who are repellent to kindness If you are one of them I want to let you know that Jesus loves you and can help you Many friendships have been broken by lack of kindness and gentleness The difference between Kindness & Gentleness  Kindness is a personality trait and action being considerate and serving others. A kind person may be generous, positively encourage others, generally perceived as nice. Gentleness is an action, “Gentle" is less a personality trait and more a way of acting. A gentle person is usually thought of as being soft spoken, making careful movements, and acting non aggressive. Manners and good approach to other people.  Both are the characteristics of the Father God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit John 15:5 NKJV Pause: What does your online conduct say about you? What about the way you talk to or treat people in stores, restaurants, or in traffic? Are you being wise in the way you act toward those who aren’t believers? Are you being gentle, full of grace, and seasoned with salt? Ephesians 4:29-31 NKJV I Corinthians 13:4 NKJV Be kind to yourself. “If you tell yourself you’re ugly, untalented, and unlovable, you’re probably sending that same message to others.” Remember: “In your quest to assist others, invest in yourself. You won’t be investing in anyone if you’re chronically fatigued or emotionally spent.” The devil traps us here in kindness to self Love your neighbour as you love yourself  Be kind at home. “No home is perfect; every family faces its share of ups and downs. But a home founded on love and kindness can weather any storm.” Remember: “The harmony you foster today — and hostility you allow — could be your legacy for decades.” I Peter 3:7 NKJV Be kind at work. “Whether you’re at the top of the corporate ladder or feel like you’re at the bottom of the food chain, you can influence the culture of your workplace.” Remember: “Your vocation is merely a stage from which you can influence the lives of coworkers and the heart of the company itself.” Ephesians 6:5-9 NKJV Be kind to your enemies. “It’s impossible to agree on everything. But just because disagreements arise – and some people don’t like you – doesn’t mean that you’re to be unkind or contentious.” Remember: “With a little good fortune and a dose of understanding, your enemy could one day become your most-trusted ally.” Romans 12:18 NKJV Matthew 5:43-44 NKJV Be kind to people who are different from you. “See people as opportunities to be kind. Look at those who are different as God’s unique creations who are equally deserving of your love and respect.”  Let’s be kind to people who are of different race than us  Young and old both deserve kindness Male and female both deserve kindness  John 4 woman at the well Conclusion: Be relentlessly kind. “Occasional kindness has limited power. But relentless kindness has the power to restore, inspire, rescue, and unite.” Will you harness the power of kindness to tell others about Jesus?  Kindness isn’t a series of gestures — it’s a lifestyle.  Kindness can’t be random — it has to be intentional.  Kindness doesn’t require much — yet it can change everything. Jesus demonstrated remarkable kindness in his final hours on the cross. Despite unimaginable pain and humiliation, he used his last moments on Earth to bring another person into the Kingdom.
