Talk to a loan officer first and see where you’re really at. Remember, the pull on your credit will only affect it by a few points.Talk to 3 lenders. Start with a big bank, then a local credit union, then a brokerage so you have 3 options. Your credit report will last around 4 months and closing will take about 30 days, so you have about 3 months to shop for a house once you have your preapprovals.
