Home Secretary Targets Patriot Platform | Birmingham News

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has slammed Daniel Thomas and his Patriot Platform as “far-right and outright racist,” warning they’ll face the full force of the law if they cross legal lines—especially after he threatened to mobilize thousands to block asylum seekers in Piddington. While reassuring locals that asylum seekers will be housed separately to ease pressure on communities, Mahmood is drawing a clear line between legitimate concerns and extremist intimidation. Meanwhile, Piddington villagers voted overwhelmingly to leave the UK for self-determination, sparking national attention and inspiring other towns to follow suit. Thomas visited the village quietly afterward, engaging with residents. Amid this tension, Mahmood also unveiled a £26 million knife crime crackdown, funding extra patrols, CCTV, and youth outreach to stop young people from falling into violence—highlighting the government’s dual challenge: managing immigration while crushing extremism and keeping communities safe.
