Depois de uma jornada fora da Terra Santa, Jesus finalmente retorna para Israel e, logo após desembarcar, tem uma grande decepção: aquela fé simples e singela que Ele encontrou em alguns pagãos parece não ter lugar no coração de muitos judeus, que o procuram, ora pelo interesse de conseguir alguma benesse material, ora com a intenção de pô-lo à prova, exigindo dele algum sinal maravilhoso.
