Redemptive suffering "allows the light of the risen Christ to manifest itself in and through the pain and suffering of this life". Father Mattingly addresses how to suffer well, meaning in the light of the resurrection. Redemptive suffering is a hallmark of Christianity, allowing redemption in the darkest parts of human experiences.  Father Andrew Mattingly is a priest for the Diocese of Kansas City – St. Joseph. He is currently the associate pastor at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, as well as the diocesan director for young adults and campus ministry.
