Hommage à Creed Taylor

On a appris la disparition du producteur Creed Taylor à 93 ans. C’est lui qui a fondé le label Impulse! en 1960,  produisant notamment les albums Genius + Soul = Jazz de Ray Charles, The Blues and the Abstract Truth du saxophoniste Oliver Nelson et Out of the Cool de Gil Evans, avant de recruter John Coltrane. Creed Taylor prend ensuite la tête du label Verve que Norman Granz venait de céder à MGM. Il contribua alors à introduire la bossa nova sur le marché américain avec les albums Jazz Samba de Stan Getz et Charlie Byrd en 1962 et Getz/Gilberto en 1964. Enfin Creed Taylor fonda le label CTI Records en 1967. Il recrute l’ingénieur du son Rudy van Gelder et produit notamment des albums de Wes Montgomery, George Benson ou encore Freddie Hubbard.
