Daugiau nei pusė pasaulio gyventojų gyvena miestuose, o šie skirtinguose regionuose ir kultūrose yra itin įvairūs ne tik struktūriniu, bet ir gyventojų patyrimo, gyvenimo kokybės požiūriu. Miesto antropologai gilinasi į šią įvairovę ir bando suprasti žmonių kasdienes patirtis mieste: kokius asmeninius, socialinius ir kultūrinius saitus jie palaiko su juos supančia aplinka, kaip jie įsisavina miesto erdvę bei kokios bendruomenės kuriasi ir gyvuoja mieste? Kaip keičiasi Vilnius ir Kaunas? Kaip vietiniai gyventojai išgyvena šiuos pokyčius ir į juos reaguoja? Kodėl miesto gyventojams svarbi gamta?
