A pennant for the Chattanooga Choo-Choos, the minor league Negro League team that played at Chattanooga’s Engel Stadium from 1940 to 1946.(Chattanooga Lookouts)This Friday and Saturday is Negro League Appreciation Weekend here in Chattanooga.The annual celebration - hosted by the Chattanooga Lookouts and the Bessie Smith Cultural Center, in partnership with Food City - honors the African-American players of the Negro Leagues, who played in the days of segregated baseball in the last century.Recently, Major League Baseball announced it would incorporate Negro League statistics in its official record book.Rich Mozingo is president of the Chattanooga Lookouts.Elijah Cameron is with the Bessie Smith Cultural Center.(Chattanooga Lookouts)
