Honoring the Life of Sr. Bridget Haase (Morning Air)

from The Best of the Week · host Relevant Radio

Wow, where do we even start with Sister Bridget Haase? For decades, this Ursuline nun brought her faith, humor, and a heart the size of Texas (or maybe Louisiana?) to countless lives across the globe. Morning Air's tribute to her was a mix of laughs, tears, and, honestly, inspiration to the max.    The Queen of Joy and Laughter   Those were the days when Sr. Bridget and her brother, Father Albert, brought sibling banter to Morning Air. Their accents, hilarious stories, and faith-filled reflections were a recipe for joy every time. They even had their own weekend show, where they’d tackle life’s mysteries with humor and heart. Remember listening to it?   Sr. Bridget embodied authentic joy: the kind born from a life rooted in God’s love. She knew struggle (a tough childhood and later her battle with breast cancer), but instead of being crushed by it, she radiated the Lord’s peace and presence. Talk about goals. 🙌   🌍 From Appalachia to Africa   Sr. Bridget didn’t just talk the talk; she walked the walk, everywhere. She served in schools across the U.S., fed children during Africa’s devastating famine, and even taught English to kids in Mexico.   💡 The Little Things with Big Impact   How about that time she worked at McDonald’s: not for fun, but to connect with people on the margins? She wanted to meet and appreciate the workers we often overlook, reminding us to see Christ in every person. Next time you’re grabbing fries, remember to say, “Thanks,” and think of Sister Bridget. 🍟   🧡 A Personal Touch   Morning Air co-host Sarah Tafoya shared how deeply Sr. Bridget touched her family’s life. From giving baby-naming advice to praying over family losses, Sr. Bridget wasn’t just a guest on the airwaves: she was part of the family. Sarah’s kids will forever remember the “Flying Nun” with love. 💌   🍂 A Life in Full Bloom   Sr. Bridget once described herself as living in the "autumn" of life. But autumn isn’t the end: it's the season of vibrant beauty and harvest. She challenged all of us to live fully, saying, “You don’t want to be whining on your deathbed about what you didn’t do...God gave you time.”   🍫 Melty Chocolate and Sisterly Shenanigans   One hilarious story involved stockings, Christmas chocolate, and a roaring fireplace. Spoiler: the chocolate didn’t survive, but the memory did, and it’s classic Sr. Bridget humor. 🍫🔥   ✝️ Her Legacy Lives On   Sr. Bridget Haase leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and joy. Whether she was telling stories to preschoolers, comforting the sick, or cracking jokes with her brother, her life was a testament to God’s boundless love. Morning Air’s tribute was a challenge to live with the same joy and purpose she did. 💖   Let’s honor Sister Bridget by taking her advice: love deeply, laugh often, and when you see someone overlooked, make them feel seen. And hey, if you’re in the autumn of life, get moving: there’s still plenty of fruit to harvest. 🌳🍂   Rest in peace, Sister Bridget. You’re still making us smile. 😊✨     The best way to listen to the Best of the Week is on our #1 Free Catholic App. It’s free, and always will be!
