Honoring the Mother of God at Her Nativity

The miraculous conception and birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary removed the shame of barrenness from her parents, Saints Joachim & Anna. She was a precursor of the One Who would come through her to remove the shame of us all, our Lord Jesus Christ. To honor this most blessed among women, we look to the types fulfilled by her in the Old Testament. She is the fulfillment of the Ark of the Covenant, the burning bush, and the golden candle stand in the Tabernacle. As we do so, we remember that when we consider the Mother of God, she either reveals something wondrous about her Son our Lord, or we see something of our most true selves because of Him.
