Hope as an escape from 'what is being experienced now' is bondage to pain

Any untoward happening, loss, any difficult situation are psychological discomforts. Apart from immediate physical danger, all discomforts are psychological discomforts. Can one see that one is trying to escape the uneasiness of the situation by ideas, explanations? As if the irritating situation should not be there. Hope as an escape from 'what is being experienced now' is bondage to pain. Any form of allurement by addition to possessions, or by some practice or idea that future will be satisfactory is the bondage. The allurement simply covers up psychological discomfort, uneasiness, you are experiencing now. When you notice this, your whole energy is concentrated. You are on the self-sustained ground. We take as if confusion, ambiguity experienced on facing any situation can be side tracked, undone by the solution of the problem. We want to come out of the feeling of confusion, ambiguity by the solution. We act as if relief of result, tomorrow would end the pain of acting from compulsion, conflict, uncertainty. This pain, this friction can not be escaped. Now action itself is rest, relief. You are on the Original ground. There is only one step; you have to disregard silently, spontaneously the relief offered by books, gurus, techniques, various entertainments and so on against your present state, which you call unsatisfactory. Psychological self-sufficiency develops when one is not carried away by any relief or when one does not complain, blame, explain away any discomfort. Psychological self-sufficiency is concentration of total energy, is one’s connection to the whole. One takes to prayers, ideas about God or some other controlling principle when one is otherwise safe and secured but wants to remain secured in the future or wants to insist that things should happen in one’s defined way. This gives (the illusion of) psychological safety about future, about something which is not now. Can one see that this safety, security is illusory? When you see this, you are on a fluid ground. Your imagination has meaning now.
