Hoping in the Messiah

from MY Devotional: Daily Biblical Encouragement & Prayer from Leading The Way · host Dr. Michael Youssef, Leading The Way

The psalmists spoke of the coming Messiah 1,000 years before Jesus’ birth—and their prophecies were fulfilled with perfect accuracy in Christ. But what do these Messianic psalms mean for believers today, 2,000 years after His first coming? In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that the psalmists were people just like us: full of courage and confidence one moment, yet crying out in anguish and longing the next. The Messianic psalms—such as Psalms 2, 16, and 110—teach us that no matter what emotions we bring or what circumstances we face, we can come freely before God. He is awesome and mighty, yet He is also our loving provider. His steadfast love is from everlasting to everlasting for those who fear Him. Dr. Youssef also explains that while Christ has already come, believers are still looking ahead to a more glorious day: His return. The psalmists call us to remember God’s saving work in our lives, prepare now by yielding every part of ourselves to the King of kings, and hope joyfully for the promised future—life forever in the presence of the Lord in the new heaven and new earth. Prayer: My Lord and King, my hope is in You. Help me to remember Your goodness, prepare for Your coming, and anticipate the future consummation of Your purposes—Your eternal Kingdom. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.  “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). Learn more in Dr. Michael A.
