Is Classic Horror Over? Revisiting the #Scream Trilogy That Changed Everything

“What's your favorite scary movie?” “What's your favorite scary movie?” Hey, this is Mako, your podcast host.Welcome to the first installment of our summer horror series — and we’re kicking things off with the ultimate genre disrupter: Scream.Let me admit something:I used to brush this off as just another horror parody.Yeah... big mistake.Sure, the movie is packed with Easter eggs for horror buffs and enough self-aware snark to make you grin —but beneath all that meta-humor, there’s so much more going on.And here’s the kicker:This film’s cheeky deconstruction of horror tropes might’ve changed the genre forever — and not necessarily for the better.Ever notice how your favorite “immersive horror experience” feels wildly different from the viral horror hits of today?Exactly.Let’s talk about why that is.Full breakdown in the episode.
