from The Charlie James Show Podcast

The first hour of The Charlie James Show on Monday, April 13, 2026, delivered a high-stakes mix of local tragedy and international brinkmanship, starting with the harrowing officer-involved shooting on North Main Street in Greenville. James quickly pivoted to the global stage, analyzing the collapse of the U.S.-Iran peace talks in Pakistan and the subsequent naval blockade ordered by President Trump. The broadcast took a more ideological turn when James critiqued Thomas Friedman’s New York Times column as a quintessential example of Trump Derangement Syndrome, questioning how a pundit could be "torn" about the fall of a hostile regime simply because it might benefit the President politically. This led into a broader segment on the South Carolina government's perceived lack of fiscal restraint, with James arguing that officials view taxpayers as a bottomless well to fund state projects. The hour concluded with a deep dive into a caller’s inquiry regarding online "RINO" lists, exploring how conservative voters are using the internet to track and hold Republican politicians accountable to their platform.

00:00 Welcome to the program on your Monday afternoon, a beautiful Monday afternoon, by the way. There was a an officer involved shooting in downtown Greenville today. Going to get you those details just as soon as more of them become available. It was, boy, it was Friday night. Got home, had a little something to eat, took the dogs for a walk, came back. And 00:29 No, was before that. I just walked in and sat down to see the Artemis splashdown. Did you guys see that? Amazing. It really, mean, you know, that was a pretty big deal. I really enjoyed watching that. So they said splashdown was going to be 7pm. They actually made splashdown. Listen to this. They only missed it by 47 seconds. 00:58 That's it. That's that is I mean, to me, that's that's pretty darn amazing. So ah awesome. Well, the peace deal in Iran fell through. Oh, I know. I'm just as shocked as you are. I could have swore the Iranians were going to just going to give J.D. Vance and Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner everything they asked for. I know. Oh, I am. I am color me shocked. 01:27 is what you need to color me. I'm not surprised about this at all. Not even a little bit. These people always go back on the word. So then Donald Trump did something that everybody went, whoa, wait a minute, you can do that? Yeah. 01:47 Ten o'clock this morning, Eastern Time, the U.S. started a military blockade of all of Iran's ports and coastal areas. All of them. 02:02 According to the US military, will allow, we will allow ships to transit the Strait of Hormuz if traveling between non-Iranian ports. President Donald Trump had said earlier the US Navy would prevent ships from passing through the key waterway. Now here's an interesting development, interesting development, because right now headed to this country, the United States of America, the United Greats of America, 02:32 are 100, at least, at least 121 empty oil tankers that are looking to come to the United States, pull up into the Gulf and fill up. We're literally becoming the world's gas station right now. That's what's happening. Some of these tankers, I think at least two of these tankers is able to hold 03:01 two million barrels of Everybody was like, I can't even understand this. Now, is the ceasefire still holding as of right now? Are they still talking? They are absolutely. And now they really want to talk. And we'll talk a little bit more about this coming up. But now Iran really, really wants to talk. I really don't think that they thought this could happen. 03:32 Now rands out there, they're calling it piracy, blah blah blah, whatever. Cry more, we don't care. 03:40 This is going to be a very interesting development. It really is. So there were six key red lines that they were looking for um in the negotiations with Iran, and they didn't meet any of them. But the really big one, I mean, the number one red line is no nuclear weapons. And they balked on that one. 04:09 They balked on that one, um so that's just too bad. 04:17 That's the main one. So Trump is now threatening to eliminate Iran's fast attack ships if they consider or even think about threatening the blockade. No, I'm telling you what, the guy, and I'm sure there's going to be liberals out there today, even some, you know, rhinos out there, disparaging what Donald Trump is doing. But this man knows exactly how to get things done. 04:46 and he is doing it. So I'm not real sure where all of this is going to end up, but I think a blockade, brilliant. And like I said, I didn't even think that that was something that we could do, but here we are, getting the job done over in the Middle East. Oh yeah, they're definitely going to come to the table. You know what this little thing is? know how all this is? 05:15 It's called leverage. And now you've got leverage in the Middle East. 05:23 We could become the new Middle East. Literally. That's not even hyperbole. Not even hyperbole. We could become the oil rich nation, ...
