This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. You're lending your life to stewarding somebody else's life.

Listen to who's with me with W.C.M.I. On the iHeartRadio app, out the podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Is there an epidemic against literature? More specifically, Black Literature. I'm Jack Please-Peace Thomas, and on this season of The Black Lits Podcast, we're outside asking why.

They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators, knocking racks of the game, and when you look at a lot of different cultures, they're like you need to know where you came from. And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is what are you reading next? Listen to Black Lits, from the Black Effect Podcast Network, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. One recent episode of the Questlove Show, I chatted with JoJo about her music and Waleo267 about the story, everything in between. Don't invite me to karaoke. I'm gonna make it weird.

Someone's gonna try to sing, leave it out or two later, baby two. Oh no. And I'm gonna be like, okay cool. Check out my conversation with JoJo, Waleo267 and more on the Questlove Show. Listen to the Questlove Show on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Peace. Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL covers zero. The 2026 season is underway, and we are loving football on TV. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season. I would suggest for these preseason games, I think they should do what they do on the NFL draft.

You know, when coverage in the NFL draft is basically for moms. And they're just like, hey, he has a dog named Spark. Listen to NFL covers zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Boom! Shaka-la-ka.

It's our number two. Bet Mallor Show, what are your first impressions of the Honest Identity Kumbos opening act with the Miami Heat? They were run off the court by the Timber Wolves. Also, how did the referees in that game allow the Wolves, LaMello Ball to travel without a whistle? A lot of frequent flyer miles for the Mello Ball.

We'll talk about that. And in football, Troy Aikman's comments on Monday night still have legs. They've reignited the NFL's old school instinct versus analytics debate. Which side of the aisle are you on? Yeah, that's the question.

We'll get to all of that and more right now. Settle in. It's our number two. It has been said, you only get one chance to make a first impression. And sometimes that first impression is a dud-dud-dud.

Welcome in the beginning of another hour of the Bet Mallor Show. We are in the air, air, air, air, air, nose to nose as we ride the audio waves, coast to coast, border to border and beyond, on the bass and smashingly powerful microphones of FSR, emanating live from the cave, the vintage coin operated. Audio arcade, you just put a coin in and get a hot take. You get a hot take. Our lead this hour from Miami. Miami Miami Miami Miami Miami. And a maid for TV open. And Edwards, not my aunt, not your aunt. And Edwards Anthony Edwards hit not one, not two, not three, not three, not five, not six, not seven, not eight, nine.

Money balls, nine three point shots, much like me back in the day. Money ball, nine three pointers scored 45 points while the mellow ball scored 21 in his Minnesota debut. And the Tim Burbles played the role of spoiler. All the celebrities in South Florida. All the Only Fans models and everyone else there having a great time.

And for a while, and then eventually Minnesota's spoiling Giannis at the Kumbos first game with Miami by beating the pulp out of the franchise there by 25 points. Now the better story is in the losing locker room. And it turns out that Giannis at the Kumbo. While he had a nice stat line at 35 points, he foul out of his heat debut. One of those points came in the first half.

Bam out of bio. Remember he had that bogus 80 point game. It was all ridiculous and it was a sham last year. Well, he scored all of 15 points for Miami and the heat gets stomped on by the Minnesota basketball team. That is a good jumping off point.

Let us discuss the question. What are your first impressions of Giannis at the Kumbos opening act with the Miami Heat. One of the big transactions of the offseason. Giannis going from Wisconsin to Florida to South Florida. And I've got Baskin Robbins, Apple Watch and Microsoft.

And we'll put all of these things together and we're going to have a Mallor Palooza as we play the ponies. Now we always start with number one. Number one. One one. Number one.

What number is it? Number one. Now I remember. So Giannis, while he certainly is still a franchise pillar and he's above the marquee, come hell or high water. He's above the marquee.

However, the rest of the house there in Miami, first impression, the rest of the heat house looks like it was built by the three little pigs. It really does. And the heat have the star traction. They've got the star. The supporting cast, it kind of appears to be like you went to a dinner theater in Boca.

Not exactly Broadway. Not quite Broadway. And yeah, it's October. It's the first game of the year. Things will get better or worse for that matter.

However, I would argue that this was an early season measuring stick game. A lot of the teams in the NBA aren't trying to win. They're not legit. You look, everyone's picking OKC or San Antonio. The third team would be Minnesota in the West.

That would be the third team. They move some parts around. It's not the same roster. Obviously get LaMello Ball. Some of the other supporting characters in Minnesota have gone to other teams to facilitate.

LaMello Ball and some of the other moves. So there's a tug of war going on with the roster. But you say Miami, if they are a big time team, at some point they're going to play a team like Minnesota in the playoffs. And so how do you do? How's that measuring stick?

Well Miami needed a Werner ladder. And they needed a cherry picker and permission from air traffic control to reach the level that the wolves are at when you juxtapose them side by side with the Miami basketball team. So the Greek freak, he had his pick of the litter. He could have gone to a number of teams that wanted him. And he traded Milwaukee snowbanks in February for South Beach Bikini's.

That was the move. And soon, Giannis is going to discover what thousands of people who have relocated their lives to Florida, the Florida transplants already know that the weather's better. But that does not mean everything else improves just because you moved to Florida. Just living in Florida is not everything in your life is better. So the basketball forecast, I looked at the long term forecast, we went to the National Weather Center.

And they say that the forecast for Giannis in Miami, partly cloudy with a 90% chance of disappointment. So think of it like Giannis and then the Cumbo went down to Baskin-Robbins. And he said, can I get some of that championship chocolate? Not do by chocolate. I want championship chocolate.

Okay, we'll see if we can find it. So the person goes in the back, tries to find it. And then they can't find it. So we don't have that. Okay, what else do you have that say?

Really winning thing? Well, we'll go back and put some together. So they went back to the back of Baskin-Robbins. They went back. And Giannis walked out with a double scoop of rocky road and a brain freeze.

It's going to be a bumpity, bumpity road there. The Greek freak. Now he's living that Miami vice lifestyle from back in the day. However, the heat, unless this was just a really terrible night, the heater playing Miami nice basketball. Not good basketball, not great basketball, nice basketball.

I want to stay with this game. I had this on in the background. There's nothing else to watch. So this was the game I had on it was TNT, ESPN actually using the TNT refugees. Never last season when they hid Charles Barkley for the first three months of the season because that was a great idea.

So they're actually there. And that's the only reason I watched. I really didn't pay much attention to the game. It was in the background. But then when Barkley and Kenny Smith and Shaq came on and Ernie Johnson, I paid attention.

But we had a viral video involving the Tim Burwells guard, LaMello Ball. So I'm going to try to describe this for those of you that didn't see the game in her blind. So LaMello committed a Tiptoe through the tulips. A rather obvious traveling violation. However, the three blind mice out there never blew the whistle.

Ball appeared to take at least four, possibly up to six steps. Some say seven. It was followed by a jump shot and he launched a step back three pointer. Seven, anywhere from four to seven steps. Now, Nick's homer Mike Breen, Tim Legler, and Richard Jefferson, just like generic broadcasters, they watched the replay and collectively said, that's a travel.

That's a travel. Now Breen demanding accountability saying that has to be called. He was in disbelief over the aficionado. This became a viral talking point on social media. It's like, what are you doing?

You get three steps, but you don't get four, five, six, seven. So the question, how did the referees allow the wolves LaMello Ball to travel without calling a whistle? They just let it go. So the answer to this is rather easy. The NBA referees over the years have changed.

They have fully embraced the spirit of the rule book, not the letter of the rule book. Mostly because over time the rule book has become a decorative coffee table book that nobody opens. In today's NBA, traveling continues to be just a suggestion. It's kind of like the speed limit. It's like an idea you're supposed to go to speed limit, but typically you can go ten miles over the speed limit.

No one's going to really say anything in most places unless you have out of state plates and then you're cooked. But other than that, you're in really good shape. So it's like the speed limit. So the association of polymers, now I've already seen some of this. They're insisting, well, you don't know ball.

The NBA allows a gather step. And that's all the mellow ball was doing. A gather step. A gather step. My fat ass, a gather step.

LaMello didn't take a gather step. He took a gap year. I don't care that much of the big picture, it's the first game of the NBA season. It's just absurd because it's a preview of coming attractions. And he was packing the suitcase. He checked his luggage and he headed to the airport.

LaMello took so many steps. How many steps? Thanks for asking. He took so many steps that his Apple Watch actually congratulated him on closing his activity ring. So bravo, a good job by you.

Now, honestly, the NBA referees, they ought to be sponsored. They should have endorsement patches for Expedia. Because they clearly are in the travel business. And as for blowing the whistle, they were just, I guess, the referees practicing load management. They don't want to blow too many whistles early.

You don't want to do that, right? You want to hold off on that. All right, final point. Let's go to football. What kind of football? A story that still has legs.

Troy Aikman. Yeah, that's right. Troy Aikman blasted the other night NFL analytics. This was during the Monday night football game where the 49ers and the commanders played. He declared Aikman, quote, I think analytics is a good way to lose your job as a head coach.

Close quote. And a comment came as the Niners faced a fourth down and three situation. And Joe Buck explained that Kyle Shanahan considered analytics, but he trusts his instincts developed over his years of calling plays and, of course, teams that choke in the playoffs. Leave that part out. Leave that part out because the Niners fans are a sensitive bunch.

We'll leave that part out. So Aikman praising that approach rather than just blindly following the numbers. Naturally, what do you think happened? The analytical nerd, nerd army. The dorko, we saw this guy dorko the comedian who quit the show.

But guys, these dorko guys, these analytical nerds, erupted. And they were, it was like a volcano. They were not happy here on social media mocking Troy Aikman. The usual, you're washed off. You're a boomer Aikman.

You know what you're talking about. How could you favor conservative decision making and you're ignoring valuable statistical information that my supercomputer came up with? All that crap. So the question here it is. Troy Aikman's comments, they still have legs.

These comments still have legs reigniting the NFL's old school debate, instinct versus analytics. That's the debate, instincts versus analytics. Which side of the aisle are you on? So if you have been with the show at all over the years, we've been here a long time. Chances are you haven't been here since the beginning.

But you've been here for a little bit as we've done the heavy lifting on the overnight. Our position has not changed on this over the years. We are writing shotgun with Troy Aikman on this one because everything in moderation, as we like to say, including moderation. And can we all stop pretending that the problem isn't analytics? Can we stop for a second?

I know some people getting shut eye right now. A lot of people are. Can we stop for those that are awake? This is not an analytical problem. The problem is coaches hiding behind the analytics.

That's the issue because they're terrified of going rogue and going against the analytical department. And then they're held accountable. And they don't want that. Think about you're making 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 million dollars a year to be the head coach and to call someplace. And yet, despite all that money, you need permission from Microsoft Excel to make a basic fourth-name decision.

Because the numbers indicate that the right move would be not to punt the ball away but to go for it. But if you don't make it, you turn the ball over on downs and you give the other team the ball deep in your own territory. And there's a number of coaches in recent years that have just blindly followed whatever the Microsoft Excel printout tells them to do. They don't consider anything else. But for me, it's like giving a break.

We have created an entire cottage industry dedicated to giving these overpaid head coaches plausible and high ability. Analytics should be a simple tool in the toolbox. Like football has always been about, analytics was never the word that was used back in the old days. It was tendencies. It was tendencies.

It was like, all right, if the ball's on the near side of the field and it's third down, chances are they're going to throw to the wide side of the field, right? Normally, because there's more room, more spacing, et cetera, et cetera. But that's tendencies. They changed the word from tendencies to analytics and they've added eight gazillion different categories. It's going up a blind alley with this.

Right? And it's a simple thing that should be in the toolbox. I'm not saying completely get rid of it. It's in the toolbox. But it's not the actual carpenter building the house.

And for a lot of these coaches, for a lot of these coaches, it's the carpenter building the house. That's the way they treat analytics. And so we've taken this wonderfully unpredictable sport, professional football, and we've handed the pass key over to essentially accountants. And everything that is analytics tells you what has happened. It doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Again, it's amazing because things do change. Can you imagine if you had a hot tub time machine? And let's say you went back and Vince Lombardi was coaching the Green Bay Packers, the great Vince Lombardi. And you told Vince Lombardi, you said, listen Vince, you've done a hell of a drum here with the Packers. But we're not going to allow you to punt because there's a 27-year-old mathematics graduate from an Ivy League school who has an algorithm tied to the supercomputer and is all part of AI that disagrees.

So you're not going to punt. I'm sorry, Mr. Lombardi. You just can't punt. Well, I want to punt.

Well, you're not allowed to punt. But I'm Vince Lombardi. It doesn't matter. The 27-year-old geek from the Ivy League school that graduated with mathematics. He's got the algorithm. He's got the AI. And that's it.

It's absolute madness. It is absolute madness. And again, I've maintained my position. And even though these people who own sports teams have earned a lot of money, a lot of them earned their money because they inherited it or just blind luck on certain business deals. They perceive the perception is these people are very smart because they've got a lot of money.

The reality is they are easily, easily victims of skullduggery when some guy shows up with a bunch of charts and graphs and Venn diagrams about how this is how much better your team would have been if you followed the analytics. It's psychological warfare on these rich people who are so stupid. They have no moderation. They're all in. All in.

It is the Ben Mallor Show as we continue on through the overnight. If you'd like to be part 877-99 on Fox, 877-9966-369, also on X at Ben Mallor. That is at Ben Mallor. It's Benny versus the Penny. Man versus metal. Man versus metal. And we're going to pick the Thursday night game, the Patriots Roadshow, the Traveling Circus, head to Chicago to take on the Bears. Duh Bears! That's Soldier Field.

These soon to be Indiana Bears. Duh Bears. They'll be coming up, supposedly, unless somebody gives taxpayer money from Illinois to the Bears than they'll stay somewhere in Chicago. Straight ahead, an NFL star says he is more than open to leaving his team. He is more than open to leaving his team. Even though a couple of months ago he had a much different tune,

we'll get to that and we will do it next. If there's a million times more vigilant intelligence than there is biological intelligence, it's hard to imagine humans being in control in that scenario. I'm Walter Isaacson, host of the new podcast, The Builders. Right now, I'm living through an AI arms race. So I went directly to the people shaping that future. In one must. There we go.

Homodate. Alex Carr. Fafey Lee. Palmer Lucky. Because I wanted to understand what the most consequential builders believe. What they feel.

And where they think this is all headed. Silicon Valley is always saying the cliche thing about the way to predict the future is to create it. Well, yeah, it's up to us. But when you say us, who's us? Is it 400 people that you know in Silicon Valley? Is it me down here in New Orleans?

They're brilliant, controversial. And they're already shaping the future. The question is, who's imagination do we want to live in? This is going to determine the fate of nations and economies and the future of humanity. Listen to the builders on the iHeart Radio App, Apple Podcast, or every Get Your Podcasts.

Hey, I'm Jack Armstrong. He's Joe Getty. We're Armstrong and Getty. We've been trying to figure out how to describe what is Armstrong and Getty on demand for many years. I'm going to give it a shot. So most media is either agenda-driven.

They intentionally lead parts out or they lie to you. Or they're so shallow. And boring. You don't learn anything anyway. We try to get to the bottom of the stories that are shaping our world and help you understand what's actually happening.

The Armstrong and Getty show practically perfect in every way. I really like you guys. So I've been listening for over 10 years. I'll always be an avid listener and veteran for it. The show is a collection of silly, serious, and irreverent musings of the day.

It's hilariously balanced with more than just a pinch of sarcasm. Whether it's on the left or the right. If somebody does something or says something stupid, they're going to call it out. And I love that. I love it. I love it. I'm rocking with Angie.

So give it a try sometimes entertaining you learn something. We're like doing this. Listen Armstrong, you're getting on demand on the iHeart Radio App, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everybody, I'm Chuck Ryan at the Stuff You Should Know Podcasts. And I'm Adam Pranika of The Greatest Generation and Greatest Trek.

We decided to start a Golf Comedy Podcast because we're both big golf lovers and we wanted to spread that joy in a golf 3-put bogey. It's coming from the perspective of golfers who are sometimes good enough to hit two great jets in a row, but almost never good enough to hit three. And a three-put bogey is kind of the purest expression of that. Every golfer knows what that's like. Obviously we're going to talk a lot about the game of golf, how absurd it is, how fun it is, and how vexing and frustrating.

But more than anything, just how much we love the greatest game in the world. We love it anyway. We're putting these out every Friday morning for your weekend golf routine. This is a show about sharing our experiences on the golf course and how absurd and funny they can be. And that's what three-put-bogey is.

It's three-put-bogey everybody out every Friday. You can listen to it now on the iHeartRadio App, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Football's back. Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Covers Zero. Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFL Covers Zero.

We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season. When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is. I did have one of the more difficult questions though. He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, we can sports fan. And I was like, yeah, actually, and he goes, we didn't have my Jaguars this year.

I realized like no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything. And I was like, duh, duh, duh. Listen, the NFL covers Zero on the iHeartRadio App, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. In many ways, the theme song to the Ben Mallor Show, People Are Strange. And we embrace it. We don't run from it. We don't hide. It's our world.

We love the strange people. Strange people are fun. Normal people are boring. We need more strange. Doctor Strange. We need it.

Hello there. And Coop and all Brocko fan. That's all Brocko fan. Your comments can and will be used against you in the court of sports radio. Please act accordingly.

So we started this hour talking about Janis and the Miami Heat who had a bit of a dud there. But that was not the biggest dud of the night. I always love when teams begin to season and just don't show up. And the Phoenix Suns, I know the Bulls also got smoked and they got run off the court there, Chicago and Toronto. They lost by 43 points.

The Phoenix Suns lost. They were down by 50 and they ended up losing 124 to 83. The reason why they felt behind 21-nothing to start the game. 21-nothing. And it was the kind of a game with Devin Booker and Jalen Green and the Phoenix Suns.

When you look at that team, you say, okay, they're clearly trying to get the coach fired. I don't even know who the coach of the Suns is. But that's the kind of game where they're like, all right, these guys didn't show up. They felt behind by 52 points in the season opener. I'm sure they sold a lot of tickets on the Suns TV broadcast.

Come on and watch the Suns. They really compete. They really fight for you. And that's it. And Toronto, they won against the Bulls.

The Bulls trail by its made 48 points. Never led against the Raptors and the great endorser of businesses that don't exist. Kawhi Leonard, that fraud had a terrible debut. Five of 17 from the floor and his return to the Raptors. And he did not play.

But it didn't matter because the Raptors won big. Big, big, big, big, big, big. Art Protection calls 877-99 on Fox is the number my board is being reset right now. 877-9966-369. If you'd like to be part of the program.

And again on X at Ben Mallor, a reminder. I know it's October. I know it's October. I know it's October. Do you know what that means? Do you know? Do you know? Do you know? Do you know?

Well, there's no time like October. And this is what it's all been for. The World Series is here. It begins on Friday night streaming live on Fox One. It's the Broke route. The Brewers versus the Rays on baseball's biggest stage.

Stream it live on Fox One. To the phones we go and we say hello to Gunner who's at the break room at the Walmart in northern Minnesota. And Gunner is up next year to give us some propaganda about the Minnesota Timberwolves. No, it's not what's our white panthers team. Oh, the Carolina Panthers. Yes. Yes. The Carolina Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers. Oh, they're gonna win two full. They're gonna win two full. They're gonna win two full. Actually, they still, ironically, this is how bad Panthers are.

The Rams still have better Super Bowl odds losing record than the Carolina Panthers. You imagine how much your team must suck in the eyes of the gaming world that the Rams have. They're two games under 500 and they have better Super Bowl odds than the Carolina Panthers. How embarrassing is that? You know, everyone's favoring the Rams because they picked up Miles Garrett.

They got Aaron. Well, Miles Garrett's not over here. And your terrible map is to have a doing interception. I don't know how they're doing, so. It's not.

Can you tell the woman to stop talking? We're trying to do a show here. Why is there a woman talking behind you? What's going on? I'm in the one show. Okay.

She's very loud. That woman. Why is she so loud? My God. Can you tell the user indoor boys? Can you tell her?

She's talking about yogurt? I'm in the lunchroom. Okay. I'm trying to do a radio show, dude. I don't understand how you're getting so many voices.

I'm like your bud. You're like your bud. Oh, you're big timing us, man. You're big timing us. Come on now. That's a bad job.

And just like my demo that they found software and went in all this here. Yeah. Okay. It's just, you know, everyone in your calls is the same. Have you noticed Gunner? It's propaganda. It's all propaganda.

I tried to ask me and you were not so where were you then? I was on a vacation. Is that allowed? Am I allowed to go on vacation? I didn't realize I had to look in and I didn't realize I had to get approval from Gunner at the Walmart in Minnesota.

If I miss a show, I had no idea. I'll have to go back. You know, I can read my contract. I'm sure there's some fine print there. You're not allowed to take a day off unless Gunner in Minnesota.

I never took a day off during football season. Look where it got me. Am I allowed to have a day off Ben? No. No, you're not going to ask Gunner.

Is Lorena allowed to take a day off from the show Gunner? Hello, Lorena. Yeah, I'm in there. You're fine. You didn't know you were up again. I called it. Oh, that's right. No one saw her.

So you called the show without listening. You called the show without listening. You called the show without listening. So that's bad. Well, you wouldn't know without, you wouldn't know without, you wouldn't have to call if you listened and heard someone else talking.

No, I would know. It's not me. Why am I fighting with you? I knew I got a show that those people look at the show. The last time I called you, the last couple times I called you, you left me. I told my whole mouth.

I told my whole mouth. I told my whole mouth. I told my whole mouth. I don't screen the calls. That's up to Coop. You guys all, you email. I get a bunch of emails that Coop just leaves you on hold.

I don't know what to tell you. It's his job to screen the calls. He doesn't want to screen the calls. That's on him. When I'm there, I'll talk to you guys if I'm there. But I can't, it's not my job to screen the calls.

I can't stop emailing me and complaining about being left on. I don't know what to tell you. I don't control that. You guys all complain to me. I called up. I was all for 10 minutes. I don't want to tell you. I don't, I don't screen the calls. I don't have that job. That's not my job. So I don't want you to do.

Are you done? I feel like he's done. All right. Thank you. Tell that woman she's annoying. Okay.

Seriously. Go outside. Yeah. I mean, come on. He's telling me yogurt. I don't know.

Let's say hello to Eenie, Meenie, Minee, Mo. Let's go to Brian who's somewhere in New York and he wants to rant and rave about statistics and analytics and all that. What's going on? Brian, welcome. Hi, Ben. All right. So what I was going to say was I was listening to your little comment about the analytics calling the Packers Coast there.

But I remember the Giants against the 49ers, 1990, and the champions of game. We didn't score single touchdown. We picked five field goals. And if analytics was involved, there's no way we would want that game. You got to pick up the game.

Yeah. I think you're preaching the choir here. Yeah. A lot of my friends, they go with the analytics. It's like, no, they go from four down taking points off the board because you never know what's going to happen in the next couple of plays.

You always get a ball back of a turnover or something. Yeah. Yeah. No, I agree. I just wonder what is it going to take for this to change?

Like if you think about it, it's so far. The pendulum has shifted so far into analytics and all that. It's just insane. And you look at the point. I remember a couple years ago, I forget the guy's name.

Who was the coach before Jim Harbaugh with the Chargers? The guy that was coaching the Chargers in the yard? The Chargers in the yoga coach. Anyway, Brandon Staley. There you go. Brandon Staley.

Brandon, he went for it because the analytics said to go for it inside his own territory, deep in his own territory. There was a Chargers game against the Vikings. Yeah. But after the game, it's like, well, the analytics said to go for it. Okay. That's the key goal. Exactly. It's like, hey, anybody has a job. You need to get in trouble.

You're like, well, I have to have an excuse. These coaches have an excuse. I would have fired Brandon Staley for doing yoga. That's what I would have fired before. Yes.

If you choose that the coaches can't go against the Microsoft. It seems that way. A lot of them are afraid to do it, whether they're allowed to or not. Because if you get it wrong, they're allowed to do it. They're right. It's kind of like gambling.

You don't have a gambling problem. If you win, you only have a game in the problem. You lose, right? No problem. Yeah, exactly. No drinking for that. You can't control your alcohol. You have a drinking problem.

But I got you. All right. Well, thank you. There you go. Hang up.

All right. It is the Ben Maller Show. We're going to have Benny versus the penny coming up in a couple minutes. I didn't want to mention this. So Sam LaPorta. You know who that is, right?

You know what Sam LaPorta plays for? Yeah, I think he's with the Red Sox. Yeah, Red Sox Lions. It's all the same. No, I know.

Lions wear Red Sox all the time. They do. Okay. Yeah. Out in the wild, right?

In Africa, when they're out, the real Lions, when they're out doing their thing, they wear. Anyway, Sam LaPorta is a football player and apparently a pretty good one. He's had some injury issues as everyone does who plays football because that's kind of the way it goes. However, he is not contractually locked up by the Detroit Lions past this season. And of course, we're very concerned about our NFL players finances. God forbid they don't get paid immediately.

It becomes a big time problem. I just take for granted these guys all have to get paid. So anyway, Sam LaPorta, the Lions tight end. He publicly blasted the Detroit football team for failing to offer him a contract extension. He played the, this is a data reference. There's a classic, a Retha Franklin song, Respect.

And he played the Respect card for the bottom of the deck. Sam LaPorta, a lack of respect. He appeared on some podcast, which no one listens to. LaPorta complained about risking his health every week, declaring, I break my effing back for this team. He went, oh, we have the auto.

This is from something called the pardon my take podcast. I know what that is, but here is Sam LaPorta. The combination of like giving your heartstrings twisted as well as the violent sport that we play, you know, it sucks. And it's disappointing that you go out there every week and you bear the risk of getting hurt, you know, like last year, whatever it was, week nine, week ten. You know, I break my back for the team and then I'm going out there this year and I'm balling and maybe they're just not showing the left.

It sucks. I'm going to continue to be a pro. So I'm going to continue to go do my thing, and ball that. And in three months, if I don't get to wear the Honolulu blue and play for the Lions anymore, it's going to be all good. I'll get paid somewhere else. So whatever.

Okay. Whatever. Yeah. I'm making my violin out for Sam LaPorta. The 25 year old who is in the final season of a contract that has paid him by the time he's done nine and a half million dollars on his rookie contract.

My God. What an absolute punk. It's not a great look for Sam LaPorta. That line, that line at the end, I'll go get paid somewhere else. So whatever. There you go. What's he, is this this is this third year?

This is the finals. It's fourth year. Final season of his rookie contract. So he will be an he could become an unrestricted free agent next season unless Detroit extends him or gives him the franchise tag. So did he say something a couple months ago about how I don't have to be the highest paid tight end? I just want to get paid and whatever.

All that. So good for him. I think we're all my people here. You with third shifters that are working your second job and barely making a rent and you've got to put food on the table eating ramen noodles because you can't afford anything else. That's all feel sad for Sam LaPorta on a nine and a half million dollar contract.

Anyway, it is the Ben Mallor Show. Yeah, I know Sam. It's real. Real sad story there. Well, here's the instrument and then we'll get to Benny versus the penny.

Clippers guard Keaton Woggler became the second youngest player in NBA history to record at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting 50% or better from the Florida NBA debut. Blank is the only other player to accomplish that feat at a younger age. That is the instrument, the answer and Benny versus the penny will get to it. We will do it next. I'm Walter Isaacson, host of the new podcast, The Builders. Right now, I'm living through an AI arms race.

So I went directly to the people, shaping that future. Elon Musk, Dario Ominer, Alex Scott, Fave Lee, Palmer Locky, because I wanted to understand what the most consequential builders believe, what they feel, and where they think this is all headed. Silicon Valley is always saying the cliche thing about the way to predict that future is to create it. Well, yeah, it's up to us. But when you say us, who's us? Is it 400 people that you know in Silicon Valley? Is it me down here in New Orleans?

They're brilliant, controversial, and they're already shaping the future. The question is, who's imagination do we want to live in? This is going to determine the fate of nations and economies and the future of humanity. Listen to the Builders on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jack Armstrong. He's Joe Getty. We're Armstrong and Getty.

We've been trying to figure out how to describe what is Armstrong and Getty on demand for many years. We're going to give it a shot. So most media is either agenda driven or they intentionally lead parts out or they lie to you. Or they're so shallow. And boring!

Don't learn anything anyway. We try to get to the bottom of the stories that are shaping our worlds and help you understand what's actually happening. The Armstrong Getty show, practically perfect in every way. I really like it. So I've been listening for over 10 years.

I'll always be an editor and editor and editor for it. The show is a collection of silly, serious, and irreverent musings of the day. Deliriously balanced with more than just a pinch of sarcasm. Whether it's on the left or the right, if somebody does something or says something stupid, they're going to call it out. And I love that.

I love it. I love it. I'm rocking with AMD. So give it a try sometimes. Entertaining you learn something? Where do I do it in?

Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFLCovers Zero. We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.

When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what's the first thing they say is. I did have one of the more difficult questions though. He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, we can sports fans. And I was like, yeah, actually. And he goes, we didn't have my Jaguars this year.

I realized like no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything. And I was like, do it. Listen, NFLCovers Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everybody, I'm Chuck Ryan at The Stuff You Should Know Podcast. And I'm Adam Pranika of The Greatest Generation and Greatest Trek.

We decided to start a Golf Comedy Podcast because we're both big golf lovers and we wanted to spread that joy in a golf 3-put bogey. It's coming from the perspective of golfers who are sometimes good enough to hit two great chats in a row, but almost never good enough to hit three. And a three-put bogey is kind of the purest expression of that. Every golfer knows what that's like. Obviously, we're going to talk a lot about the game of golf, how absurd it is, and how fun it is, and how vexing and frustrating. But more than anything, just how much we love the greatest game in the world.

We love it anyway. We're putting these out every Friday morning for your weekend golf routine. This is a show about sharing our experiences on the golf course and how absurd and funny they can be. And that's what three-put bogey is. It's three-put bogey everybody out every Friday.

it's time now for the back. Belly versus a penny. But first we'll follow the rundown and we will do the Insta Trivia Clippers Guard, Keaton Woggler became the second youngest player in NBA history, and recorded at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting 50% or better from the floor in his NBA debut. Blank is the only player, only other player to accomplish that at a younger age. Alfie Alien, or Piney McNorman, Nixon. Rhea Ripley from Shane and Des Moines. Gunner.

Guest by Fergdog, Greg Ostertag from mediocre Kabuki. Who else do we have? Coops favorite Celtic of all time, the White Mamba. Who else do we have? Paige Downe, Trauma Jan Wayne. Going with former Fox Sports Radio host Bernie Frodo.

Gary Busey from JT The Wingman. That's his answer. Willy O'Ree from Steve, the misplaced Sandiegan. Eachro, who's 53 today from late night drug tester, pistol Pete Meribish from analog Al. Chet Sorensen from Nada from LAX. You have an answer, not Benjamin Button, not guest by Sean and Phoenix.

What's your answer, Lorena? It's got to be Doja Cat. LeBron James, it's LeBron James. All right. Let's get to it. Here we go.

Benny versus the Penny New England and Chicago. The Thursday night game. Week seven begins at Soldier Field. Bears are three point favorite on DraftKings. Mild weather in Chicago.

Al Michaels, Kirk Kirby Street and his dog Peter will be there. New England. Check this out. They're five and all against the spread in regular season primetime games under Mike Raebel. His team has also won three straight entering this matchup. I'm going to take the Patriots plus the three points.

How will New England cover? Obviously, limit the turn of his Drake may has been much better lately against weaker opponents. Extend drives with his legs. Chicago's secondary blows. A lot of injuries here.

The Bears have allowed eight pass in place of 40 plus yards this season. So here's a chance. A.J. Brown had the drops. He's last week. Can make up for that here tomorrow.

Tomorrow, Doug was as well. Get some of those big plays and just make the Bears kick field goals. Shorten the game, make them kick field goals. Caleb Williams drive between the 20s and all that. They don't need a masterpiece of the Patriots. Right? Just protect the football.

Hit a couple of big plays and this will be a rock fight of a game. I am going to take the team from the Commonwealth. The Patriots will not be a track needle. Be a slow tempo type thing. I'll take the Patriots plus the points and Koopaloop, the Penny picks.

The Penny lands on heads, so it's going with the Chicago Bears. Alright, so disagreement to begin week seven. Again, we are taking the New England Patriots. Now, New England is missing multiple people on the offensive line, which does seem problematic. I'm not a huge believer in the Chicago Bears defense, but again, the pick will keep it simple.

I'll take the Patriots plus the points on a Thursday night special. Hey, I'm Jack Armstrong. He's Joe Getty. We've been trying to figure out how to describe what is Armstrong and Getty on demand for many of them. I'm going to give it a shot. So most media is either a gender trend or they're so shallow.

And boring. Don't learn anything anyway. We try to get to the bottom of the stories that are shaping our worlds and help you understand what's actually happening. So give it a try sometime. Entertaining and you learn something?
