This is the Roy Green Show on the Chorus Radio Network. So glad you're with us on this first weekend in January, first weekend of 2018 and what we could spend the first week of the year. I set aside about 12 to 14 minutes. So call me at 800-26-3428.
1-800-26-3428. Go ahead and all that right now please. Why should you? I'm told you what it's about.
Okay, what it's about is this. I would like to get your thoughts on one, two or all three issues that I'm going to raise here. And it'll be quick. So 800-26-3428.
The first issue is the Joshua Boyle story and the visit of the Boyle family with the prime minister and Boyle saying that they had had a mutually interesting paraphrasing meeting in 2006. And I've been asking is that significant or not so significant that Boyle was invited to the PMO to meet with the prime minister. 1-800-26-3428. What are your thoughts on that?
Or you can share your thoughts on Kathleen Wynne, the Ontario premier, raising the minimum wage in the province to $14 an hour from 1140 and that happened on the 1st of January. She says help underpaid workers. Now what's been happening is you know with some employers and it's not just a few franchises of Tim Hortons. Others have done the same thing.
They've changed the realities of the employment for their minimum wage employees, benefits, salaries. They may change it because they're saying we can't afford this. And the premier says you're cheap. So who's wins raising the minimum wage to $14 an hour to help underpaid workers?
Or was it an undisguised attempt at a vote grab for this summer's provincial election? 1-800-26-3428. Number three is Donald Trump. Is he incompetent because they're going to argue those who are his enemies?
Or are going to argue that he should be impeached and removed from office because he's not qualified to do the job emotionally and mentally. So is Donald Trump still your guy? Or are you starting to lose confidence in him if you ever had confidence in him? 800-26-33-2428.
So the Boyle story, the minimum wage story in Ontario did win to it for the minimum wage, or an aerosol or did you do it for herself? And the upcoming election of Donald Trump 800-26-33-2428. Choose 1-2-2-3, your choice. Matthew and Mississauga.
Matthew, thank you for the call, sir. Hi, Ronny. It's Rick, and here for you again. And I just got to say kind of plenty to those topics.
One of the things that I'll say after one year of Donald Trump is that contrasting him with Justin Trudeau, it's very obvious to me by their perspective action. Donald Trump, I don't agree with everything he does that. At least I can say he loves this country. I can't say the thing for Mr Trudeau.
I think that like his father, he is going about trying to redefine his nation to his city instead of actually enjoying and celebrating what the nation was. Okay, I can't disagree with you. I don't think that he has the kind of love for Canada that he should have, my view. Yeah, and I like what Gary Arthur that you just had before, 4.30 said, is that he's trying to remake Canada in an image that I think a lot of us will not like what it's done.
Anything else on the other topics you want to have a go at? No, just a quick topic today. Thank you very much for having us on. I'm looking at the book later.
All right. Thank you, Matthew. Appreciate the call in Mississauga, Ontario in Saskatoon. Saskatchewan listening to CKM Radio.
Here's Ken. All right. What Kathleen and all of those people that are going for $15 an hour and any of the minimum wages, but they don't understand is businesses tend to have a budget for labor. Now, that budget can be split between the hourly wage and any benefits that they get.
All of that stuff. It's a pile. It's a part of a pie. What the employers are not carrying out saying is, hey, employee, the provincial government has told me out of my budget this much goes into your wage.
So the rest of the stuff, the benefits, those types of things, I'm going to be reducing the paid. No, I hear you. Yep. Yep.
Yep. If I can't get any bigger, the government's going to pay it out in a certain way. Right. And it's not a business is up.
It's not a business responsibility to hire. It's a business responsibility to be profitable. That's why the people start of the business. If Kathleen and when wants to help people with minimum wage, cut taxes and don't make electricity so expensive, the people can't afford it.
You know the best social policy, jobs and Trump understands that. I appreciate your call in Saskatoon. There's Ken in Richmond, British Columbia, no doubt listening to CK and W, Global News Radio and Vancouver. Here's Erica.
That's right. Hi. How are you? How are you doing?
I'm great. Regarding Boyle, Joshua Boyle needing with Trudeau. Right. It seems to me it looks like Trudeau is certainly leaning towards ISIS by not taking citizenship away from persons involved in terrorism and other things, by paying over a cat or 10 million, by inviting Joshua Boyle, by reintegrating.
When you say leaning toward terrorism, what do you mean? Well, he seems to lean toward ISIS, I said. Well, he's leaning, certainly leaning toward not holding these people accountable and saying that they can be reintroduced into reintegrating the Canadian society that they obviously hated. Why?
I think usually anything boils down to money. And I haven't quite figured out what the connection is that it needs to be looked at. All right. A lot of questions being asked.
Thank you for the call. I'll move along reasonably quickly. In Scarborough, Ontario, here's Sam on the Roy Green Show on Global News Radio. How are you Sam?
Very good. Thank you. Thank you. Great, sir.
Thank you. Please go ahead. Which one do you want? Yes, sir.
I first I was skeptical, but I don't know why it's not on the mainstream media. He's brought the economy up. He's broken records with the stock market. He's called everyone else, wine scene, everyone, all the swamps getting his dream, as he says.
We've never had this kind of exposure into politics ever. And he's grown on everything. I don't see anything better than he's done. Nobody's done anything better in such a short term.
Well, he's hated by those on the left. I mean, I'm not using that word loosely. He's hated by people on the left. There was a story we had yesterday about college students in San Diego.
They wanted to protest Donald Trump, so they wandered out onto Highway I-5, the very busy interstate. And unfortunately, one of the students was hit and injured by a car. But now that student is suing the university, saying the university didn't do enough to protect her, Sam. That's America.
I appreciate you calling. I'll move along less in Hamilton, Ontario. Yes, sir. Go ahead.
Please. You're on the air. Okay. As far as the boil is concerned, I think Trudeau is very dangerous.
I think he's a traitor to our democracy. And what bothers me a lot is the voters who put him in the first place. They should have known better. As far as the wind is concerned, I think she doesn't care for anybody except herself.
And Trump, I think, is a far better president than Obama will ever be. All right. Appreciate your call. Thank you very much.
There were many problems with Mr. Obama's presidency, but that, of course, has never mentioned. Mr. Trump has obviously got problems.
He didn't have more. And that goes with the job. Is he eccentric? Is he different?
Certainly both. You've shown me a president who hasn't been at least somewhat eccentric at times. So what we have to do here is now we have to take a break. And then when we come back, we're going out to Vancouver State with us.
